Perth Coffee - Lincoln 102 Highgate
Oh my goodness. How is it that I never heard about this place! Great coffee at a slow pace just moments away from the hustle and bustle.
Lincoln 102 located in Lincoln Street, Highgate and just off Stirling Street is a little gem among many of the diamonds of the Highgate coffee precinct. Its location in a quiet suburban street gives it an almost sleepy ambiance and there is something quite reflective about being able to cocoon yourself away from the grind for long enough to savour a great coffee and fill your belly.
Knowing that I had errands to run in the area today, I sought out something a little special to try and Lincoln 102 did not disappoint.
The coffee is roasted by Perth gourmet roaster, Crema, and is exceptionally well prepared, if not a touch weak, and without the fuss that accompanies many of the better coffee shops around this town.
As a first time visitor, it took a while for me to work out just what was going on with the food, however once I established that apart from a couple of specials my lunch would most likely come from the display fridge I was well on my way. The food selection is mainly premade and exceptional in quality, for which you pay a bit of a premium with not much on the menu available for under $10. It could also be a little better labelled as to get a good look at what’s available I had to stick my head in between the couple having a conversation on the adjacent table.
Despite this, my smoked chicken breast and salad on rye was amazingly good. The coffee was great. But I think what really won me over was the Melbournesque feeling of the place and the serenity that surrounds it which seems to drain out the traffic and city noise only metres away.
